How to register, log in, and renew MinID
Order MinID (first-time setup)
- Go to the MinID self-service page at minid.no and choose to order MinID.
- Identify yourself with your Norwegian national identity number (fodselsnummer).
- Wait for the PIN code letter sent by post to your registered address, or activate PIN codes on the app if eligible.
- Set a password and, when prompted, register a mobile number for SMS one-time codes.
Log in with MinID
- On a public service, choose ID-porten as the login method and select MinID.
- Enter your national identity number and password.
- Enter the one-time code sent by SMS, or from your PIN code letter, to complete login.
Recover a lost MinID password or PIN
- Open the MinID self-service page and choose the forgotten-password option.
- Verify your identity with your national identity number and registered mobile number.
- If you have lost your PIN codes, order a new PIN code letter, which arrives by post.
