VNeID

VNeID (Dinh danh dien tu)

VNeID is Vietnam's official electronic identity application, letting citizens store and present digital versions of their identity and other documents and complete administrative procedures online. It is built on the National Population Database and operated by the Ministry of Public Security. Since July 2024 it has been the single app for public administrative services, and the government plans to expand it into a national digital super-app.

How to register, log in, and renew VNeID

Register a VNeID account

  1. Download the VNeID app from the App Store or Google Play.
  2. Enter your personal identification number (from your Citizen ID card) and phone number to create a level 1 account.
  3. Complete the on-screen verification, including a facial scan, and set your password.

Log in to VNeID

  1. Open the VNeID app and enter your identification number and password.
  2. Approve the login with the app's authentication prompt or passcode.

Upgrade to a level 2 (verified) account

  1. Visit a commune-level or district police office, or use in-app verification where available.
  2. Present your Citizen ID card and complete fingerprint and facial verification.
  3. Once approved, the account is upgraded to level 2, which unlocks the full range of public services.

Privacy and trust

Data is centrally managed by the Ministry of Public Security in a single national database, concentrating sensitive biometric and population data under one security agency.
