Overview
Affinidi, founded in 2020 and based in Singapore, is a Temasek-backed company building decentralized identity and verifiable-credential tooling around a data-ownership thesis: individuals and organizations should control and selectively share their own data. It has a notable APAC presence and strong financial backing, which sets it apart from many bootstrapped peers, though its broad vision is still translating into adoption.
What it is good at
Developer tooling, breadth of vision, and backing are the strengths. Affinidi offers SDKs and services for issuing and verifying W3C Verifiable Credentials and working with DIDs, supports both SaaS and self-hosted deployment, and frames identity as part of a wider personal-data and consent platform. The APAC focus and Temasek association give it credibility and runway in a region where digital identity programs are expanding.
Where it falls short
The decentralized identity market is early and Affinidi's holistic data-ownership ambition is wider than what most buyers can consume today, so the product story has shifted as it searches for traction. Verifier and relying-party networks are limited, and mainstream IdP capabilities (SSO, authorization, lifecycle, governance) are not its focus. Confirm current product scope, as the offering has evolved.
Pricing

Best for, and who should look elsewhere
Choose Affinidi if you are an APAC organization or developer exploring verifiable credentials and personal-data sharing and value a well-backed vendor. Look elsewhere if you need a proven enterprise IdP or mainstream IAM features. Compare with walt.id and Trinsic, or browse the decentralized identity category.
Bottom line
An APAC-focused, well-funded decentralized identity option with broad ambitions, still emerging and best for exploratory projects.
