Overview
Procyon built just-in-time, passwordless privileged access for cloud infrastructure, granting ephemeral, scoped credentials on demand rather than maintaining standing privilege. Ping Identity acquired Procyon in 2025 and now offers the capability as PingOne Privilege, so it is best evaluated as part of the Ping platform rather than as an independent product.
What it is good at
The technical model is modern and sound: just-in-time, passwordless access to cloud resources with ephemeral credentials and a developer-friendly request flow, which directly reduces the standing-privilege risk that plagues cloud estates. Its strongest fit now is for organizations already standardizing on Ping Identity, where privileged access can sit alongside PingOne access management and governance under one platform and one commercial relationship.
Where it falls short
The acquisition reshapes the buying decision. As PingOne Privilege, its roadmap and value are tied to the Ping platform, so it is less relevant to teams that want a vendor-neutral, standalone just-in-time tool or that are not in the Ping ecosystem. Pricing is folded into Ping's platform and is quote-based, and the standalone story has effectively ended.
Pricing
Sold within the Ping platform as PingOne Privilege; quote-based. Compare against standalone cloud JIT tools with the TCO calculator.
Best for, and who should look elsewhere
Choose Procyon (PingOne Privilege) if you are a Ping customer wanting cloud just-in-time access consolidated into PingOne. For vendor-neutral cloud JIT, see Apono and Symops; for certificate-native infrastructure access, see Teleport and StrongDM.
Bottom line
A modern cloud just-in-time PAM, now part of PingOne Privilege, best evaluated by organizations already committed to the Ping platform.
