Overview

Sectigo (founded 1998, owned by GI Partners) is a commercial, publicly trusted certificate authority that pairs public and private certificate issuance with a certificate lifecycle management platform. It issues a broad range of certificate types and adds management on top, positioning it in the PKI and certificate lifecycle category as a CA-plus-management option that is generally more affordable than the premium CAs.

What it is good at

The combination of CA trust and integrated lifecycle management at competitive pricing is the draw. Sectigo Certificate Manager handles discovery, automated issuance and renewal, ACME, and private PKI alongside its public CA, so mid-market teams can consolidate TLS and private certificates with one vendor. Certificate type breadth (TLS, S/MIME, code signing, document signing) and solid support and pricing transparency relative to peers make it a practical default for consolidation. Automated machine identity workflows are well covered.

Where it falls short

At the very high end, Sectigo's CLM depth trails the dedicated automation specialists in discovery sophistication, crypto-agility tooling, and multi-CA orchestration. Organizations that want one console managing certificates from many CAs may find it most natural when Sectigo is the issuer. It is a commercial CA, so it is not the choice when you want free certificates for simple needs.

Pricing

Per-certificate and subscription pricing, with Certificate Manager plans for lifecycle management. Generally competitive versus premium CAs, with relatively transparent pricing. Model your fleet cost with the TCO calculator.

Best for, and who should look elsewhere

Choose Sectigo when you want a trusted CA with integrated certificate management at a reasonable price, especially for mid-market consolidation. For the most premium CLM, see Keyfactor or AppViewX; for a premium public CA, DigiCert; for cloud-native private PKI, Smallstep.

Bottom line

A solid CA-plus-management option at competitive pricing, especially attractive for mid-market teams consolidating TLS and private PKI.
