Overview
Indicio, founded in 2020 and based in Seattle, builds decentralized identity infrastructure under the Proven product line, helping organizations issue and verify credentials across verifiable-data ecosystems. It grew out of the Hyperledger Aries and Indy community and remains one of the more standards-active vendors, with real deployments in government and travel.
What it is good at
Standards depth and deployment flexibility are the core strengths. Indicio supports W3C Verifiable Credentials, DIDs, and the AnonCreds and DIDComm stack, and it can run hosted or fully self-hosted, including running and supporting verifiable-data networks for customers. It has done concrete ecosystem work, notably credential-based traveler and trust frameworks, which is rarer than slideware in this space. Developer tooling and support around building an actual trust ecosystem are solid.
Where it falls short
Decentralized identity is still maturing, so value depends heavily on ecosystem readiness and partner participation rather than on the software alone. It is not a turnkey consumer wallet, and authorization, SSO, lifecycle, and governance are limited versus mainstream IAM. The AnonCreds lineage is powerful but adds its own interoperability questions as the market converges on OID4VC and SD-JWT formats.
Pricing
Subscription and project-based, sales-led, with managed network and support tiers and no fully public list pricing. Estimate cost against issuance and verification volumes with the TCO calculator.
Best for, and who should look elsewhere
Choose Indicio if you are a government, travel, or enterprise team building a standards-based verifiable-credential ecosystem and want a partner who will help stand up the trust infrastructure. Look elsewhere if you want a packaged consumer wallet or a mainstream enterprise IdP. Compare with Spruce ID and walt.id, or browse the full decentralized identity category.
Bottom line
A strong, standards-first choice for organizations building verifiable-credential ecosystems, especially where Indicio can run the underlying trust network.
