Overview
Veriff, founded in 2015 in Tallinn, is an AI-driven identity verification provider that checks documents and faces across most countries, with strong automation and fraud detection. It sits in the top tier of global IDV for businesses onboarding users at scale. See all identity verification vendors for alternatives.
What it is good at
High automation and broad document coverage are the strengths, with mature liveness, biometric matching, and fraud signals delivered through a solid developer experience and SDKs. For fintech, mobility, and marketplaces verifying users globally, the automation rate and coverage reduce both friction and manual review. Strong automation rates keep manual review and operational cost down at high volume, and the fraud signals catch presentation and injection attacks that catch out simpler checks.
Where it falls short
Pricing can be higher than budget providers, and a very narrow domestic single-document use case may be over-served by a global platform. Like its peers it relies on automated decisioning, so edge-case documents and regions still need fallback review, and pricing is quote-based. As a global platform it is more than a purely domestic, single-document use case needs, and like all automated IDV it still requires a human-review fallback for difficult documents and regions.
Pricing
Per-verification, quote-based, with volume tiers. Model your real volume with the TCO calculator.
Best for, and who should look elsewhere
Choose Veriff when you need automated document and biometric verification across many countries at scale. For a close document-and-biometric peer consider Onfido; for an all-in-one KYC, KYB, and AML platform consider Sumsub; for an embedded developer-first check consider Stripe Identity.
Bottom line
A leading global IDV provider for businesses verifying users at scale.
